For GCC member Kimberley J. Ferguson, color is more than an artistic choice; it is a source of healing. Whenever she faces difficult times, she turns to color therapy to help lift her spirit and bring light into darker moments. Through bright, vibrant hues, Kimberley finds a renewed sense of hope and perspective, allowing her to view life's challenges through a different lens. Her artwork reflects the transformative power of creativity and the ways art can support resilience, healing, and emotional well-being.
This piece will be featured in the Art of Resilience Gallery, opening June 20 at the Downtown Clubhouse (537 N. Wells St.), where GCC members share artwork inspired by their experiences with cancer, caregiving, grief, and healing.
About the Art of Resilience Gallery
Art therapy is a powerful therapeutic tool for individuals impacted by cancer, offering a creative outlet to process the challenges of diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and loss. Through artistic expression, participants can reduce stress, explore complex emotions, and find moments of connection, meaning, and hope.
Each year, the Art of Resilience Gallery celebrates the healing power of creativity by showcasing artwork created through GCC's art therapy programs. Located on the second floor of the Downtown Clubhouse, the gallery features inspiring works that tell stories of strength, resilience, and community. The annual gallery opening brings artists, families, and supporters together for a meaningful experience of reflection, empowerment, and connection.
