Dietrich Bonhoeffer's life and theology are inspiring and as we study his work, we see more and more his commitment to meeting and loving humanity in it's fullness. In that spirit, we reject interpretations of Bonhoeffer that turn him into an idealized martyr, because that reading has little to offer us as fellow disciples and humans. Rather, we see in him our common humanity, and therefore are inspired in our own imperfection to boldly ask his enduring question - "Who is Christ for us today?"
Lutheran Advocacy Ministry in Pennsylvania is a state public policy office of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. LAMPa serves the congregations, synods and Lutheran institutions in Pennsylvania, providing resources, training and information in the work of being a public church.
As members of the ELCA, we believe that we are freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. God uses our hands, through our direct service work, and our voices, through our advocacy efforts, to restore and reconcile our world. Through faithful advocacy, the ELCA lives out our Lutheran belief that governments can help advance the common good.
