A refugee is someone who has been forced to flee their country due to war, violence, or a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership of a particular social group.

Carolina Refugee Resettlement Agency (CRRA) provides resettlement services to refugees, Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) holders, asylees, and certain humanitarian parole groups. CRRA believes all new arrivals deserve a chance to begin successful new lives in the United States

CRRA's resettlement services include securing and furnishing housing for new arrivals, job training, public benefits enrollment, introduction to English classes, and much more. Since 1996, CRRA has served more than 6,000 refugees from over 50 countries. In that time, people have arrived from some of the following places: Afghanistan, Bhutan, Dem. Rep. Congo, El Salvador, Myanmar, South Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, and Vietnam.
