At Chehaw, conservation starts at home and reaches far beyond our gates. Every visit, program, and animal encounter helps inspire a deeper connection to wildlife and the natural world.

Through this fundraiser, your support directly helps protect wildlife in two important ways: half of all proceeds will support conservation projects working to preserve species and habitats, while the other half helps sustain Chehaw?s daily operations, including animal care, education programs, and maintaining the spaces where our community connects with nature.

The black rhinoceros is one of the world?s most critically endangered large mammals. Once widespread across eastern and southern Africa, black rhino populations declined dramatically during the 20th century due to poaching for their horns and the loss of suitable habitat. Conservation efforts have helped some populations recover, but the species remains under constant threat from illegal wildlife trade and habitat fragmentation. Today, black rhinoceroses survive in protected reserves and national parks throughout Africa, with conservation organizations and zoos working together to support breeding programs and protect wild populations. Learn more.
