In 2023, Knack was returned to the shelter after being labeled "too much." He was surrendered for "ruining someone's life," struggling to live with cats, and making more than one memorable first impression (including climbing onto someone's shoulder during a meet-and-greet to bite their hair...)

He wasn't an easy dog.

But he was never a bad dog.

When I adopted Knack in 2023, I saw a dog bursting with drive, intelligence, and heart. As a professional dog trainer, I knew he needed an outlet- not another label.

So we got to work.

When Knack first started dog sports, he didn?t care about tugging on toys. The only thing that really kept his attention was a little piece of rope on the end of a horse lunge whip (a homemade flirt pole). That silly little string became the beginning of everything and is where Team String Theory gets its name.  

Fast forward three years and that dog who only wanted to chase a string has become a full blown sport dog. This is Knack's first full season competing in DockDogs, and he's already earned an invitation to the DockDogs World Championship in Madison, WI this November!

From "unadoptable" to competing on one of the biggest stages in dock diving. For a dog once written off as ?too much?, competing against some of the most talented dogs in the world is a pretty incredible accomplishment.  

Knack is proof that shelter dogs aren?t broken. Sometimes they just need someone to understand them, believe in them, and give them a chance to shine.

Getting to Worlds isn't cheap. Between entry fees, travel, lodging, and meals, the trip will easily top $800- more than I can comfortably afford on my own.
