At the Pacific Autism Center for Education (PACE), a 501c3 non-profit based in California's Bay Area, our mission is to enhance the lives of people impacted by autism through innovation, exceptional education, and compassionate care. Our vision is a world where people of all abilities live fulfilled lives, and our values, Connect, Support, and Educate guide our work.

PACE was founded in 1989 by parents, community members, and educators as a private 501(c)3 non-profit to meet the critical need for high-quality programs for children and adults with autism. Thirty-five years later, PACE is at the forefront of autism services, providing early intervention and early childhood programs, primary school, residential housing, and behavioral therapy services. Today, PACE is the only private autism program in the Bay Area supporting independent dedicated school campuses for elementary and high school/postsecondary students up to age 22. • In a recent 2023 report from the CDC, 1 in 22 (or about 4.6%) 4-year-old and 8-year-old children were identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Nationwide, ASD affects 1 in 36 children*.
• California has higher rates of ASD than other states. However, children are identified with ASD at a younger age than in other states*.
• Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that may hinder an individual?s ability to regulate sensory input, communicate and socialize, and learn in conventional ways.
