Rainbow Collective for Change Is Bringing LGBTQIA+ Visibility, Community and Queer Joy to Minnesota Children and Families with the ?Out & About? Book Bus.

Rainbow Collective for Change?s (RCC) ?Out & About? Book Bus is a mobile LGBTQIA+ library connecting children and families in the Twin Cities and beyond with LGBTQIA+ and gender affirming stories. RCC is ?adopting? the Out & About Book Bus in summer 2025 from its previous family in the San Francisco Bay Area who utilized the bus as an LGBTQIA+ children?s bookstore.

Like other libraries, RCC?s ?Out & About? Book Bus will play a crucial role in building and strengthening communities by providing spaces for connection, opportunities for learning and engagement, and access to resources. RCC will utilize the bus to bring more Rainbow Play Dates, Rainbow Story Times, and Family Workshops across the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs.

LGBTQIA+ children and families are currently facing alarmingly high levels of discrimination, bullying and stress, and many are moving to Minnesota to seek refuge from anti-LGBTQIA+ laws in other states. Rainbow Collective for Change will be ?out & about? in the Book Bus - meeting families where they are and bringing them community, affirmation, resources, and joy at a time they need it most.
