S.T.A.R. - Save, Train And Rehabilitate is an inmate dog training program in the Dick Conner Correctional Center, Hominy Oklahoma under Compassionate Animal Rescue Efforts. Every three months, 8-10 dogs are entered into the program where they live at the correctional center and are trained for ten weeks in basic obedience. This helps otherwise less adoptable dogs have a better chance at finding their forever home. It also helps the trainer/inmate learn new skills, build self esteem and take on the responsibility of caring for another living being. It's a win-win situation!
