We have so many parenting comrades to uplift and support this Mother's Day!
Our dear friend and fellow organizer, Alisha, is celebrating her first Mother's Day! This is definitely a community kiddo--she's raising her child with extended friend, chosen family, and neighbor support. She's currently in-between jobs while she looks for full-time employment as an aesthetician, and really needs an extra bump in funds! She's also a formerly incarcerated artist-poet who's been involved in prison abolition organizing, sex worker-led harm reduction projects, and mutual aid efforts and wanted to put a rad shirt out there in the world that speaks to her passions! Please help us show up for this extraordinary woman!
We also have 10 penpal comrades currently incarcerated in Cook County Jail, all of whom are queer and/or trans (including non-binary femmes), who are also all parents. Many of these comrades were/are the sole providers for their families on the outside, and as such, don't have anyone able to send them regular commissary support for basic necessities or legal fees. Please help us ensure we can always send these community members consistent support when they ask!
And of course, there are 3 beloved formerly incarcerated mamas we frequently do mutual aid work with--a queer, Black comrade, a newly documented, queer Latine friend, and a queer white beloved--these women have been doing essential support work with us for years, before they even came home from prison, and we want to be able to celebrate them in sustainable ways!
Join us in supporting, uplifting, and acknowledging all their love, care, and crucial community labor!
