LGBTQ youth are at higher risk of child abuse and neglect, homelessness, and sexual exploitation. Often, these vulnerable youth refrain from reaching out to service providers for fear of discrimination and lack of trust. "Some may have tried to receive help but had a bad experience; not every organization is LGBTQ-inclusive" (Polaris Project). At Resilience Rising, we ensure LGBTQ representation on our staff team and board of directors. We incorporate LGBTQ narratives into academic programming, therapeutic interventions, and special celebrations. We take pride in being a place where LGBTQ youth are not only accepted and respected but celebrated and honored. We recognize the courage, strength, and resilience it takes to be authentic, visible, and to love freely.
