Proposals for bridges to the Island have riled the community many times through the years! The most serious bridge plans were in 1953 when the state legislature approved a floating bridge design that would have connected Vashon to the Kitsap Peninsula. A state budget deficit in ?54 squashed those plans. It is an idea that has resurfaced with some regularity. In 1992, the State Dept of Transportation had another bridge proposal on the table. At the time, one-third of islanders protested the idea. Nancy (Silver) Ewer created this No-Bridge logo for the cause.
With Nancy?s blessing, we are bringing the No-Bridge logo back as a membership drive fundraiser for the Heritage Museum.
Members will save 10% on their orders, if you?d like to become a member we would welcome you, and you will receive an email with a discount code.
