To discover the Buddha within oneself is to awaken the inner qualities of wisdom, courage, compassion, and resilience that already exist in every human being. GCC member Tarkeshwari "Dolly" draws on these themes through her vibrant paintings, using color to express both the beauty of nature and the power of imagination. Having lived in many countries and experienced a variety of cultures, Dolly brings a unique perspective to her work. For her, painting is a source of joy, happiness, and personal growth, reflecting the resilience and inner strength that can help us navigate life's challenges.
This piece will be featured in the Art of Resilience Gallery, opening June 20 at the Downtown Clubhouse (537 N. Wells St.), where GCC members share artwork inspired by their experiences with cancer, caregiving, grief, and healing.
About the Art of Resilience Gallery
Art therapy is a powerful therapeutic tool for individuals impacted by cancer, offering a creative outlet to process the challenges of diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and loss. Through artistic expression, participants can reduce stress, explore complex emotions, and find moments of connection, meaning, and hope.
Each year, the Art of Resilience Gallery celebrates the healing power of creativity by showcasing artwork created through GCC's art therapy programs. Located on the second floor of the Downtown Clubhouse, the gallery features inspiring works that tell stories of strength, resilience, and community. The annual gallery opening brings artists, families, and supporters together for a meaningful experience of reflection, empowerment, and connection.
